Q?

WHAT PRIMARY PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH?

A.

Making photos at your wedding requires our photographers to be excellent at several styles of wedding photography, including classical, artistic, wedding fashion, wedding photojournalism. A wedding album would feel incomplete without classical photographs from the church, contemporary shots of the dinner, and a range of exceptional modern portraits. Our studio prides itself on being skilled in all of the necessary styles. It is also important to note that we consider ourselves primarily to be a fashion photography studio. We enjoy publishing photography from genuine weddings in wedding magazines, as we feel that the sincerity of the shot is just as important as its professionalism.

Q?

Will you take photos of the groom as well as the bride before the wedding?

A.

We usually try to visit both the bride as well as the groom before the ceremony. Normally a single photographer will first visit the bride whilst she has her hair and make up done, and capture details such as the dress and shoes, as well as several casual photos with her father and bridesmaids. If the men are getting ready nearby, or at the wedding venue, then the photographer will aim to get shots of them as well. If the men are getting ready at a separate location, and you want their part of the day capturing too, you can add on a second photographer for an additional charge, who will stay up until after the speeches. Hiring multiple photographers means that you will get photos from different angles, which is far more difficult to do with only one person on site. These details are important to keep in mind for larger, busier locations, such as the ceremony.

Q?

Can we see the album design before it goes to print?

A.

Yes, the studio and the couple will work on the album design together. Both the bride and the groom have the option to choose their favourite images, and the studio will use those pieces to create tailor-made page layouts. Electronic copies of all the pages will then be sent back to you and your spouse for approval. Each page is meticulously put together, according to your exact specifications, guaranteeing that your wedding album turns out exactly like you want it to. Find more information on our Blog.

Q?

What camera and equipment do you use?

A.

We use professional full frame digital SLR cameras and lenses by Canon, as well as medium format Mamiya camera. Canon is highly capable for weddings as they are well renowned for their low light capabilities and quick focusing systems, ideal for catching those important moments, even in the darkest of venues! We always carry two cameras per photographer to each wedding. They are accompanied by a range of lenses, as well as a backup camera in our car. This means we are able to continue shooting regardless of any technical malfunctions, and the range of lenses allows us to quickly shift focus between different parts of the room, never missing an important moment. In addition, we always carry the latest flash models, bringing professional studio lighting directly to your wedding.

Q?

When will we see our photographs and edited movie?

A.

Usually we are able to send you unedited low resolution photos three days after your event. However, please note that retouching is very time consuming. We take care to ensure that every photograph in your album is edited to the best of our abilities, and that the finished product maintains its beauty for years to come. The full completion process takes approximately twelve weeks. During this time, your online cloud-based gallery will be made available for you and all your friends and family to see. In terms of the wedding movie, the editing can take between four and six weeks. The amount of time if takes to edit the footage is dependent on a number of factors, the biggest one being how busy our videographers are at that time.

Q?

We wish we could to visit your studio and meet with you, but we don’t live in Singapore. Is there an alternative?

A.

The majority of our couples hire us without an in-person meeting. In most cases, emailing is sufficient, as we are always quick  and thorough with all of our clients questions and requests. However, we are happy to talk with you on the phone or schedule a video conference over Skype. A couple who lived in Hong Kong contacted us with this method once, and we covered their wedding week a month later. We are happy to accommodate, finding a time and method that works for you.

Q?

How many photographs will we receive?

A.

Normally, we don't stop taking photos at any point in the day unless the client asks us to do so. The quantity of photos taken depends on the number of guests present, the number of locations used throughout the day, and many coinciding factors. We don't have an established limit on how many photographs we take. On average, the photos are taken in excess, amounting to approximately 1,500 photographs per camera. These are then narrowed down to the 500 to 800 best images of the day, which go to the client.

Q?

DO YOU RETAIN THE COPYRIGHT FOR THE PHOTOS and VIDEO?

A.

As your professional wedding photographers and videographers, SoloStep Studio will retain copyright of all your wedding images and raw video footage. However, we always provide an official copyright release for you, allowing unlimited personal use and printing of your wedding photos and publication of video in internet.
